IND vs ENG: Virat Kohli Needs To Spend More Time On The Wicket To Score Big Runs - Pravin Amre

Former Indian cricketer Pravin Amre reckons that it is a matter of one big innings to set the ball rolling for the out-of-form batter, Virat Kohli, which will come once he spends more time at the crease.
Kohli has been struggling to get going across formats and is at the risk of losing his place in the T20I side. If he fails to rack up some runs, players like Deepak Hooda are waiting in the wings to take his place.

“Virat needs to stay calm. He should not react much and control his nerves. He needs to spend more time on the wicket to score big runs. It’s just a matter of one good inning for Virat. For this, he needs to chase a small target… Like focus on the initial 10 runs, then make the next 10 runs, and so on,” Amre told Jagran TV.
“He needs to execute things properly by staying calm” – Pravin Amre
Amre insisted that Kohli will have to set small targets like 10 runs at a time to help build an innings. Chasing too much at once when you’re out of form will come back to bite. Therefore, smaller and more achievable targets are the way to go for Kohli, as per Amre.
“Remember that Virat is a chasing master. He needs to help himself and stay calm. When you stay calm, your shot selection will improve, and there will be less chance of you making a mistake.”

“That’s why I feel Virat should chase small targets of 10 runs. That I think will help him a lot. No one has a doubt about his ability, but he needs to execute things properly by staying calm,” he added.
Kohli sat out of the first ODI against England due to a groin injury. The management will be hoping he recovers in time to play in the second ODI on Thursday.
