Former India National Cricket Team spinner Pragyan Ojha has said that the struggling India batter Virat Kohli should leave the disappointments he went through in the series back in England and he needs to start afresh.

The India tour of England 2022 was awful for the modern-day legend Virat Kohli. Kohli failed in all 6 innings he batted in the England series across all three formats. He scored 11 and 20 in the Edgbaston Test. In the T20Is he scored 1 and 11 while he registered scores of 16 and 17 in the ODIs.

Speaking to Cricbuzz, Ojha said that Kohli should leave the excess baggage back in England and should make a fresh start. He added that Kohli is being backed by Rohit Sharma, Rahul Dravid, the entire India team management and players all around the world, which is a good thing. He elaborated:

“As a friend, I would suggest that Kohli should leave the excess baggage back in England. There is clarity that the coach, captain and team are backing him and depend on him. That is a big thing. Even in world cricket, a lot of big names have backed him, stating that it’s just a phase and he will come out of it.

“He is going through a bad phase. What he can do is cut short the negativity. Whatever happened in England and whatever disappointments he went through, he needs to leave it back there and start afresh.”

While talking about, Kohli’s dismissal in the third ODI at the Old Trafford, Manchester, former India pace bowler RP Singh said that Kohli didn’t play a bad shot and he was dismissed on a good delivery.

He stated: “Yes, his runs are not coming, but he got a good ball today (Sunday). He did not play a bad shot. He was playing strokes along the ground and taking singles. But it often happens that when you are in bad form, you keep getting those good deliveries. The ball left him after pitching. It wasn’t as if he was chasing it.”

He added that Kohli would be disappointed with his performance on England tour.

“He will be disappointed because it is important for him to stay in form. He is the most experienced player in the team and a big-match player irrespective of the format. Even if he doesn’t get a hundred, a 50-70 would also be good,” he maintained.
