Former England National Cricket Team captain Michael Vaughan praised India National Cricket Team premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah and said that the 28-year-old pacer is the “best bowler across all formats by a country mile”.

Vaughan’s comments came after Bumrah destroyed the England batting unit in the first ODI of the three-match ODI series at the Kennington Oval, London. The premier India pacer bagged 6 wickets in the match in 7.2 overs and gave away just 19 runs. He became the first Indian speedster to register a six-wicket haul in England in an ODI match and this was also his best bowling figures in ODIs.

Meanwhile, Vaughan said that there are pacers like Trent Boult and Shaheen Shah Afridi, who are good all-format bowlers, but Bumrah is ahead of them and he keeps getting better.

“Without any question, he (Jasprit Bumrah) is the best bowler across all formats by a country mile. You can put Shaheen Shah Afridi, Trent Boult, these kind of bowlers in that kind of category but Jasprit Bumrah with his pace, his skills, wobble seam, swing, yorkers and dipping slower balls, continuously always seems to get better and better,” said Vaughan on Cricbuzz after the first ODI between India and England.

Former England captain further said that the right-arm pacer Bumrah has been in the international cricket scene for quite some time now and the batters “have seen plenty of him” but still they struggle against the pacer. He added that Bumrah is miles ahead of his competition in international cricket.

“All the batters now have seen plenty of him over the last few years but there is still a very few that can really get on top of Jasprit Bumrah in T20 cricket, in 50-over cricket and also in Test cricket… I just think he is miles ahead of anyone else,” Vaughan added.
