India vs England, IND Playing 11 vs ENG (Predicted), 2nd ODI, India Tour Of England 2022.

England and India face off in the second game of the three-match ODI series on Thursday, July 14. The match will be played at the iconic Lord’s in London. Building on the momentum from the win in the T20I series, India trashed England in the opening ODI at the Kennington Oval on 12th July.

India won the opening game of the 3-match ODI series comfortably by 10 wickets and the match ended in less than 50 overs combined across the 2 innings. India is on a roll and will look to win this match and the ODI series so that they can experiment in the third ODI match.

England had lost the T20I series and is now on the brink of losing the ODI series too. They need to win this 2nd ODI match to keep the series alive and take the ODIs into the decider.

England batters were steamrolled for 110 runs with as many as 4 of their top-5 batters registering ducks. The likes of Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Liam Livingstone, and Jason Roy were dismissed without scoring in the match.

Skipper Jos Buttler was the top scorer with 30 runs while tailenders David Willey (21 runs) and Brydon Carse (15 runs) put on a face-saving 35-run partnership for the 10th wicket to take the England team past the 100-run mark.

Indian openers Rohit Sharma (76* runs) and Shikhar Dhawan (31* runs) made it easy in the chase of 111 runs with their skipper playing some aggressive pulls and hooks for fun. Virat Kohli, who got injured before the 1st ODI might return to playing XI if he is fit to play in place of Shreyas Iyer.

It is to be noted that Suryakumar Yadav scored a scintillating century in the last T20I in a losing cause, so he should be retained. Jasprit Bumrah ran through the England team with superb figures of 7.3-3-19-6 in the match. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami (3 wickets) were almost unplayable in the powerplay and never allowed any England batter to settle down.

Virat Kohli is going through a terrible form and is also facing an injury crisis. Virat Kohli missed the 1st ODI with a groin injury and is all set to sit out of the 2nd ODI as well. As per reports, his condition hasn’t improved, and he won’t be available for the 2nd match at Lord’s.

Chasing 111, Rohit Sharma (76*) and Shikhar Dhawan (31*) put on their 18th-century partnership to take India home in the 19th over. This is after Jasprit Bumrah (6-19) and Mohammed Shami (3-31) helped India bundle out England for 110 at the Oval. It was England’s lowest total against India in ODIs.

India 114 for 0 (Rohit 76*, Dhawan 31*) beat England 110 (Buttler 30, Bumrah 6-19, Shami 3-31) by ten wickets

Rohit Sharma is the skipper of India in the ODI series and will lead the team in the 2nd ODI as well. Rohit Sharma will take up the opening slot in the match. In the recent T20I series against England, the right-handed batsman slammed 66 runs in 3 games.

He started with quickfire knocks but lost his wicket before reaching a big score in the T20I series. He scored an unbeaten 76 off 58 balls which included 6 boundaries and 5 sixes as India reached the 111 runs target in just 18.4 overs.

Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan will be another opening batsman for India in the ODI series. The left-handed batsman played a knock of 10 runs in his last ODI against West Indies. Prior to that, Shikhar Dhawan slammed 2 fifties during the South Africa tour. He isn’t considered for T20Is nowadays. In the 1st ODI against England, he scored an unbeaten 31 off 54 balls which included 4 boundaries, playing his 150th ODI.

Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav, the right-handed batsman grabbed the eyeballs of everyone with a marvelous century in the recent 3rd T20I against England. He also came up with an outstanding performance in the series, smashing 171 runs in 3 games at an average of 57.0.

After his good performance in the T20I series, Suryakumar Yadav might be given chance in the ODI series as well, especially as Virat Kohli is injured. He missed an opportunity to bat in the 1st ODI, as the openers chased down the below-par target without losing any wicket.

Shreyas Iyer

The Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Shreyas Iyer averages 41.17 across 27 ODIs amassing 947 runs with a strike rate of 96.04, and these numbers should give him some credit in the bank, but he needs a score to settle his own nerves. He replaced injured Virat Kohli in the 1st ODI and would retain his place in the 2nd ODI too if Virat Kohli doesn’t recover in time.

Despite a promising start to his international career, Shreyas Iyer finds himself in a spot of bother. His problems against the short ball have followed him throughout the current tour of England and he needs to figure out a plan to counter the threat.

Rishabh Pant will be another middle-order batsman and the wicketkeeper for the team during the 2nd ODI match. The left-handed batsman could only score 27 runs in 2 T20I games against England. However, Rishabh Pant came up with an outstanding performance in the one-off Test earlier, slamming a century and fifty in the two innings.

Hardik Pandya gave a fabulous performance in the 1st T20I against England, where he slammed a fifty and picked a 4-wicket haul. Hardik Pandya scored 63 runs in 2 games and picked 5 wickets in the series. He bowled only 4 overs in the 1st ODI and went wicketless and wasn’t required to bat.

Overall, Ravindra Jadeja scored 53 runs in 2 T20I games against England in the preceding series. Ravindra Jadeja looks in good form and will be a useful all-rounder for the team. He didn’t bowl or bat in the 1st ODI. He scored his 5th Ton in the rescheduled 5th Test too.

Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami broke the record of Ajit Agarkar to become the fastest Indian bowler to 150 ODI wickets. The seamer needed 80 matches to 150 ODI wickets. Mohammed Shami, who returned match figures of 3/31 from seven overs in India’s 10-wicket win, achieved the feat with his second wicket of the match. In the 15th over of the game, Mohammed Shami dismissed English captain Jos Buttler to achieve the landmark. He also scalped the wickets of Ben Stokes and Craig Overton.

Jasprit Bumrah has regained the top spot in the ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings after a career-best haul of six for 19 that helped India romp to a 10-wicket victory in the first ODI against England at The Oval on Tuesday (July 12).

Jasprit Bumrah’s returns are the third-best for India in men’s ODIs. Stuart Binny’s 6 for 4 against Bangladesh in 2014 tops the list, while Anil Kumble’s 6 for 12 against West Indies comes second. Jasprit Bumrah, who has been No. 1 in T20Is in the past and is currently at a career-best third position in Tests, is only the second Indian fast bowler after Kapil Dev to be No. 1 in the ODI rankings.

Yuzvendra Cahal who picked 4 scalps in 2 T20Is averaging 10.5 bowling 6 overs in the preceding T20I series against England, bowled 2 overs in the 1st ODI and conceded 10 runs. He wasn’t required to bowl much as the Indian pacers claimed all the 10 scalps to fall. He has 104 scalps in 62 ODIs averaging 27.54 with a best of 6/42.

Prasidh Krishna

Prasidh Krishna picked the wicket of Moeen Ali and returned with figures of 1/26 in 5 overs in the 1st ODI. Moeen Ali was caught and bowled by the pacer. Another member of the ODI specialist club, Prasidh Krishna can extract serious bounce thanks to his height. Even on docile pitches in India, he let it rip against West Indies where he picked up 9 wickets in 3 games back in February.

He has picked up 19 scalps in 8 ODI averaging an impressive 17.21 at an economy rate of only 4.87. His best is 4/12. He has picked 13 scalps in 2022 averaging 11.77 playing 5 matches.
