Revealed: Why Arshdeep Singh Wasn't Selected For The Third ODI vs England Despite Jasprit Bumrah Missing Out

Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh failed to make it to the playing XI for the third ODI against England despite senior pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, being rested following an injury.

Bumrah complained of back spasms ahead of the final ODI, which will be the series decider. Therefore, Rohit Sharma revealed that he needed to recover and Mohammed Siraj will be replacing Bumrah.

However, Arshdeep was in line for a debut considering his impressive outings in recent times. Unfortunately for the left-arm pacer, he has failed to recover from the abdominal strain he suffered during the T20I series against England.

Statement from BCCI on why Arshdeep Singh missed out:

Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of this game owing to back spasms. Arshdeep Singh was not considered for selection as he is yet to fully recover from right abdominal strain,” the statement from BCCI read.

Meanwhile, Rohit won the toss and opted to bowl first at Old Trafford. Bumrah’s absence will be worrisome but the rest of the bowlers have stepped up in the first two ODIs and India will be hoping for the same once again.

As for the hosts, they are sticking with the same team that registered a thumping 100-run victory in the second ODI at Lord’s. The batting lineup has been shaky but the bowling attack will be high on confidence after blowing India away the last time around.
