Earlier, England won the toss, opted to field first in the match and they made two changes to the playing XI as David Willey and Richard Gleeson replaced Tymal Mills and Reece Topley.
India, on the other hand, made 4 big changes to the match-winning combination as Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant were included in the playing XI and Deepak Hooda, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh and Ishan Kishan were dropped.
Looking at the playing XI, many expected India’s modern-day greats, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, to open the innings, but Rishabh Pant opened the innings with Rohit.
India continued their aggressive approach in the second T20I and registered scores of 8,7,17 and 11 in the first four overs. Debutant Richard Gleeson bagged his maiden T20I wicket in his first over, which was the 5th over of the match, by dismissing India captain Rohit Sharma, who scored 31 runs off 20 balls.
At the end of the powerplay, India were at 61/1. Debutant Richard Gleeson in the 7th over of the match bowled a maiden over and bagged wickets of Virat Kohli for 1 and Rishabh Pant for 26.
In the 11th over, Chris Jordan produced a two-wicket over by dismissing Suryakumar Yadav and in-form Hardik Pandya on back-to-back deliveries. Dinesh Karthik started off slow and scored 17-ball 12 before getting run out in the 16th over.
In the end, Ravindra Jadeja scored brilliant 46 runs off 29 balls, including 5 fours, to help India post 170/8 on the board.
While defending the target, Bhuvneshwar Kumar opened the attack for India and he cleaned up Jason Roy for a golden duck and bowled a maiden over. In the third over of the match, Bhuvneshwar once again dismissed Jos Buttler.
After that, Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed Harry Brook and Dawid Malan while Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran to reduce England to 60/6.
In the end, Hardik Pandya dismissed Moeen Ali for 35 and David Willey fought well scoring unbeaten 33 runs, but England were bowled out for 121.
Here’s How Twitter Reacted To India vs England 2nd T20I In Birmingham:
Top effort by India to beat that quality England team in their backyard again. Impressive intent up top. & They can still get even better. My highlight was Michael Atherton’s passion and enthusiasm in regaling us with the backstory of Richard Gleeson: wonderful and informative.

2 performances from India that have been high class but still with room for improvement .. plus a player or 2 who are not in the side that could improve them .. very promising leading into the T20 WC .. #ENGvIND

This Indian bowling line up is just unplayable for even the likes of T20 specialists of England. It has all the varieties one can ask for. The victory margin not just mean defeating England but absolutely destroying England. #EngvInd pic.twitter.com/uiLG9449FE

Rohit Sharma the captain beats England in England. This is for all the people who mocked him for winning against WI. The GREATEST @ImRo45

While not so long ago Deepak Chahar was India’s power play specialist his injury gave Bhuvi another shot and he has grabbed his opportunity superbly. PP specialists are key to winning tournaments and Bhuvi has gone past Chahar in the queue now for the WC. #INDvsENG

#England should play #T20I like #Test cricket. They will definitely win.. Play bazzball, not cricket guys. #INDvsENG #CricketTwitter

This will be our SIXTH limited overs series win over England out of the 7 we have played since 2017. The one we lost was because of Root and this man David Willey himself who scored a quickfire 50 at Lords in 2nd Odi in 2018.

Why Rohit Sharma is so successful as captain?
Any other captain would have saved Bumrah's last 2 overs for end, but he brought him and got Sam Curran. @ImRo45 ?

This is different level of domination by Indian team in bilateral series against England.
