Bairstow has been in the form of his life in 2022 as in his first 79 games in the purest format of game he had smashed only 6 centuries and in the year 2022, he has played only 8 games and has already smashed 6 terrific centuries.

Bairstow was heading into the one-off Test against India with wonderful form under his belt as he had smashed two back-to-back centuries in the Test series against New Zealand, where England won by 3-0.

Meanwhile, in the first innings of England in the Edgbaston Test against India, he scored brilliant 106 runs off 140 balls, including 14 fours and 2 sixes, and helped England reach a decent total.

In England’s second innings, he once again looked in fine touch and he had a remarkable match-winning partnership with former England captain Joe Root.

Bairstow completed his century off 138 balls on the final day of the match and scored an unbeaten 114 runs off 145 balls, including 15 fours and 1 six, to help England complete the historic 378 run-chase.

Notably, England registered both their highest-ever Test run-chase and highest fourth-innings run-chase at Edgbaston. Also, the five-match Test series ended in a 2-2 draw.

Meanwhile, with the century in both the innings of the Test match against India, Bairstow has become the first England player to make a century in both innings of a Test match since Andrew Strauss’ century in 2008 against India in Chennai.

Also, Jonny Bairstow is the highest run-getter in Test cricket in the year 2022. He has played 8 games and smashed 994 runs at an amazing average of 76.46 and a strike rate of 76.22, including 6 centuries and one half-century. He was awarded Player of the Match for his performance in the one-off Test against India.
