Veteran England National Cricket Team pacer James Anderson was able to pick the huge wicket of star India National Cricket Team all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on Day 2 of the Edgbaston Test on Saturday, July 2.

The 5th and last Test match of the series between Jasprit Bumrah-led India and Ben Stokes-led England, which was cancelled last year due to the Covid-19 scare in the Indian camp, is being played at the Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja joined Rishabh Pant out in the middle when India were struggling at 98/5 on Day 1. Ravindra Jadeja and Rishabh Pant had an outstanding 222-run partnership in 239 balls and they helped India make a stellar comeback in the match.

Young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was able to score a marvellous century before being dismissed by Joe Root in the 67th over. He scored 146 runs off 111 balls, including 19 fours and 4 sixes. At stumps on Day 1, India were at 338/7 and Jadeja was unbeaten at 83.

On Day 2, Jadeja looked in fine touch and completed his century off 183 balls. He became only the 4th Indian after Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant to score a century at the Edgbaston, Birmingham. Also, he became only the third Indian after Kapil Dev and Ravichandran Ashwin to have 2500+ runs and 200+ wickets in Test cricket.

Meanwhile, Jadeja was cleaned up by Anderson on the second ball of the 83rd over. The veteran England pacer bowled a full-length delivery to Jadeja that swung in the air and the Indian all-rounder went for the heave across the line and missed it completely and the ball went on to hit the top of the middle stump.

Jadeja was able to score 104 runs off 194 balls, including 13 fours, and India were able to score 416 runs in the first innings.
