India opener Rohit Sharma showcased a masterclass on how to play the perfect pull shot during the first ODI against England on July 12, 2022, at the Oval ground in London. Sharma had a good day on the field as India bundled out England for 110 runs after winning the toss and bowling first.

India missed the services of Virat Kohli and Arshdeep Singh due to their respective niggles, while Shreyas Iyer got a chance at no.3. However, the day belonged to Jasprit Bumrah who picked his career-best ODI figures as England bowed down to him and Mohammad Shami’s beautiful display of swing and seam bowling.

There were four ducks in the England batting line-up including Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, and Joe Root, as Bumrah ran through the top order with help from Shami and Prasidh Krishna. Jos Buttler with 30 and David Willey with 21 were the face savers for the home team as Bumrah’s 6/19 proved to be their undoing, while Shami took 3/31.

Rohit Sharma’s Six Hits A Young Child In The Crowd

With a target of 111, India openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan had quite a comfortable outing in front of them. Both took advantage of a listless opening spell from England pacers who either bowled too full to find some swing or bowled short.

Rohit Sharma was particularly peppered with short balls by England fast bowlers and he kept dispatching them for sixes. Something similar was seen on the 3rd ball of the 5th over which was bowled by David Willey.

Willey tried to cramp Rohit by slamming it short and into his body, but the Indian opener swiveled on his front foot and pulled the ball handsomely, sending it ten rows back over the fine-leg boundary.

Unfortunately, the ball landed and hit a child in the stands, and in what can be only called a brilliant gesture, the England physio and the doctor were seen rushing to help the kid.
