Rahul Tripathi, the Maharashtra and Sunrisers Hyderabad batter, was the new name included in the Indian squad for the upcoming 2-T20I tour of Ireland which will take place later this month. India is scheduled to play 2 T20Is in Malahide, Dublin on June 26 and 28.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the India squad on June 15, 2022, and Rahul Tripathi’s name brought much elation on social media, as many thought that he was deserving of an India call-up after his consistent performances in the IPL and in domestic cricket as well.
Rahul Tripathi has been one of the most exciting talents who have showcased his talents since his Indian Premier League debut in 2017 for the Rising Pune Supergiants. He also had an amazing outing for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the recently concluded IPL 2022 season.
Tripathi had been in excellent for SRH this season with 413 runs with 3 fifties batting at no.3 and hit 40 fours and 20 sixes. In all T20Is, Tripathi has 2628 runs in 118 T20 matches with 16 fifties and the highest score of 93. He has hit 248 fours and 97 sixes with a strike rate of 134.01.

The 31-year-old’s voice was full of happiness who saw this India call-up as a reward for his enormous hard work put in over the years.
“It is a very big opportunity, a dream come true (moment) and (I) appreciate (it). I am very happy that the selectors and everybody believed in me and whatever hard-work I have put in, I have got the rewards. And hopefully, if I get an opportunity to play, I will try and give my best,” Tripathi told PTI.
Tripathi, who has played for the prestigious Deccan Gymkhana club, one of the oldest in Pune, has 2,540 first-class runs from 47 matches. He has also captained Maharashtra in domestic cricket.
