The latest setback by the national selectors has left Rahul Tewatia distraught. The highly regarded allrounder was left out of Team India’s new-look T20I squad for the forthcoming series against Ireland.
India’s Test squad regulars are likely to go immediately to England to prepare for the postponed fifth Test at Edgbaston next month, thus the selectors were anticipated to choose a new-look side for the series. Tewatia must have been optimistic about his prospects of making the team after demonstrating his abilities in IPL 2022.
Rahul Tewatia Hurt After Missing Out On Team India Selection
Despite the fact that the selectors named a new-look team for the series, Tewatia was unable to secure a place in it. Hardik Pandya has been selected captain for the series, while Rahul Tripathi has been called up for the first time. Sanju Samson was also called up for the series. Suryakumar Yadav will also make a comeback in the forthcoming series.
Rahul Tewatia appeared to be very wounded by the recent rebuff, and he did not hold back in expressing his sentiments. The allrounder sent an emotional remark on Twitter shortly after the selection was named. He made it obvious in his tweet that he was expecting to make the squad and was saddened by the rejection. He wrote:

Rahul Tewatia Yet To Make India Debut
Tewatia has yet to make an appearance for Team India. He received his first India call-up for the five-match home series against England last year. He did not make the cut for the series, though, after failing the fitness test required by the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI).
The left-handed batter has been one of the most sought-after finishers in the IPL, putting up regular performances. He was instrumental in the Gujarat Titans’ success this year, scoring 217 runs at an average of 31 and a strike rate of over 147.
Several regular players are absent from India’s team for the next series due to the Test against England. Pandya will captain the team in the absence of the regulars, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar as his deputy.
VVS Laxman Named Head Coach For Ireland Tour
Rahul Dravid, the team’s head coach, will also be absent from the tour in order to prepare the squad for the England Test. Former India batsman VVS Laxman will be the tour’s head coach in his absence, with Shitanshu Kotak (batting coach), Sairaj Bahutule (bowling coach), and Munish Bali assisting him (fielding coach).
