Indian Cricket Team is all set to lock horns against New Zealand on 18th November (Thursday). The Men in Blue is going to play a 3 T20I match series along with 3 ODIs. Arshdeep Singh, the left-arm speedster who took 10 wickets in 6 in the marquee tournament was one of the positives for the team.

This series is extremely vital for India as this embarks on a new era where a lot of senior Cricketers are not a part of the team after the heart-breaking T20 World Cup 2022. New Zealand on the other hand would be aiming to start afresh where once again they failed in knock-out stages.

Jonty Rhodes was having an interaction with reporters and was asked about Arshdeep Singh. “I  think that’s putting him under a lot of pressure, to compare him to the great Wasim Akram, the sultan of swing. Arshdeep has certainly grown in the last two years and that’s been the case with the Indian fast bowlers. You look at a Bumrah and his progression was so so quick and Arshdeep has done the same, he is a young fast bowler, willing to learn and listen and he puts in the hard yards.” said Jonty Rhodes

“He’s someone who has great potential and the possibility of having a fantastic career. But you start to compare players to the ones who played before them, and that puts them under unnecessary pressure. He wants to be the best Arshdeep Singh. After disappointments in back-to-back T20 World Cups, the Indian team is expected to go undergo a transition with senior players making way for youngsters.” he added.

Stern Test for Arshdeep Singh

The youngster has shown great awareness of the game as he was not only effective with the new ball but was a force to reckon with at the death overs. Indian Cricket Team doesn’t have the luxury of having too many qualities left-arm pacers in the team.

New Zealand would possess a difficult challenge for Arshdeep as their boundaries are pretty short where the batters dictate the terms. The pacer would be tested in those conditions where there is little margin for error.
