Salman Butt, a former Pakistan cricketer, has given his approval for the seasoned wicket-keeper batsman to be given the duty as rumours of MS Dhoni being considered for such a role have arisen.

Rahul Dravid’s efforts to lead the Indian cricket side to the T20 World Cup 2022 trophy fell short in his first-ever ICC competition.

Although Dravid’s position with the Indian squad doesn’t currently appear to be in jeopardy, some believe Dravid might utilize the assistance of a second coach in a supporting capacity, particularly in the T20 format.

MS Dhoni Will Help Indian Cricket Move Ahead: Salman Butt

Butt praised MS Dhoni as a “tactical genius” who has done miracles as a captain and is unquestionably a name that can aid the Indian cricket team in a video on his YouTube channel.

“Indian cricket will benefit significantly from MS Dhoni’s involvement and presence. Because of the type of captain he has been, he would be a big asset when it comes to designing tactical plans for the team.

“He is a tactical expert with an excellent temperament. He is an asset to them, and they should indeed create a capacity for him to contribute,” Butt said.

The last Indian skipper to claim an ICC championship was Dhoni. The Indian team has struggled to win an ICC event, regardless of the format, since his decision to step down.

“With his kind of a brain, players will be benefitted. Indian cricket will move ahead. You can’t beat experience, you can’t beat the person who has done things himself,” Butt further said in his video.

In preparation for the T20 World Cup in 2021, Dhoni was appointed as the Indian team’s mentor.
