The 3rd ODI between India and New Zealand was washed out due to incessant rain. New Zealand had won the toss and had opted to field first. The Black Caps made one change to their combination as they dropped Michael Bracewell and included the speedster Adam Milne into the line-up.

India persisted with the same combination as once again Sanju Samson was benched. The Men in Blue managed to score a below-par score of 219 and were bundled out inside 50 overs. Washington Sundar, the dashing all-rounder astoundingly was the highest run scorer where he scored 51 runs in 64 balls where he struck 5 fours and 1 six.

In response to the 220 target, New Zealand got off to a decent start as the team managed to score 59 runs in the power-play overs. Finn Allen struck a scintillating knock of 57 runs in 54 balls and was looking threatening. The batter was dismissed just before the rain intervened when New Zealand’s score was 104-1 in 18 overs.

Tom Latham was quite magnificent in the 1st ODI where he smashed an unbeaten blazing knock of 145 runs in 104 balls where he struck 19 fours and 5 sixes. The batter knows how to play the waiting game which is priceless in modern Cricket. It won’t be wrong to say that Latham’s knock proved to be a decisive one in the Series.

It was a nice series for the whole group- Tom Latham

During the post-match presentation, Tom Latham was quite happy after receiving the player of the series award and was asked about the team’s performance. “It was a nice series for the whole group and personally as well. Bit of a shame I didn’t get any play in the next two games. We bowled fantastically well this morning. Hit the right lengths and got some movement off the surface and restricted them to that total,” said Tom Latham.

Mitchell did a fantastic job too- Tom Latham

“Finn played uncharacteristic in terms of his usual aggressive way. The ball was moving around and it did enough out of the right lengths. Mitchell did a fantastic job too. Lot of the guys have played each other, especially the IPL so there is some friendly banter. Certainly not cold for us but very cold for them (smiles),” he added.
