New Zealand Cricket Team registered a thumping victory against India in the 1st ODI. The Black Caps were quite clinical during the run chase. Skipper Kane Williamson silenced all the critics by smashing an unbeaten knock of 94 runs in 98 balls where he struck 7 fours and 1 six.

India would be crestfallen as they missed a golden opportunity to stamp their authority in the ODI Series. Skipper Shikhar Dhawan should not have allowed Kane Williamson & Tom Latham to get their eye in as the duo later unleashed the attack and dismantled the bowlers.

Wasim Jaffer on Umran Malik

Wasim Jaffer was having an interaction with ESPNcricinfo and was asked about Umran Malik.

“As the game gets bigger you got to have more skill that is something which they (Arshdeep & Umran) will learn. I think Umran this format suits him more rather than T20s. We have seen in the IPL that he doesn’t have that many variations compared to bowling in this format, where you need to bowl that line and length a lot more as he can use that short ball length,” said Jaffer.

Wake-up Call for India

Head Coach VVS Laxman & Skipper Shikhar Dhawan will have to find a 6th bowling option who could provide 3-4 overs for the team.

The management can play Shardul Thakur as the batter as we all know that he can bat and drop one of Suryakumar Yadav or Sanju Samson. There are chances that Suryakumar may get rested for the 2nd ODI as he has been playing non-stop cricket.

New Zealand made a new record as now they have won 13 consecutive ODI matches in New Zealand starting from 2019 which is quite a great feat. The Black Caps have a unique ability to throw surprises which makes them a dangerous unit.

With 2 ODIs left, we can expect a scintillating comeback from India as we all have witnessed how ruthless India can be; as the way, they won against South Africa after being 1-0 says a lot about the team’s dynamics.
