Legendary New Zealand National Cricket Team batter Ross Taylor heaped praise on the star India National Cricket Team middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav after his sensational century in the second T20I of the three-match series against New Zealand National Cricket Team at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, on Sunday, November 20.
The World No.1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav was at his absolute best in the game against the Black Caps and he demolished the Kiwi bowlers. The 32-year-old smashed unbeaten 111 runs off 51 balls, including 11 fours and 7 sixes. He batted with a remarkable strike rate of 217.65. This was his second T20I century as he had smashed his first T20I century against the Three Lions in England in July this year.

During a discussion on ESPNcricinfo, Ross Taylor was asked to share his views on Suryakumar’s stunning century. He responded that the unbelievable knock of the No.1 ranked T20I batter was one of the best knocks he has ever seen on New Zealand shores. He said:
“That was unbelievable innings, I think the way he started. I have seen a lot of very good innings in New Zealand; McCullum, Munro, Guptill, but that would be up there with the best 20-20 innings and the best 20-20 hundred I have seen on these shores in the history of the game.”
New Zealand brought up the fielders, he backed himself to hit it over them – Ross Taylor

Ross Taylor was further asked about Suryakumar performing consistently despite adopting a high-risk approach. He responded:
“I think it’s calculated risk. Those shots over inside out over cover against spinners that’s such a low-risk shot option. I think he had a little bit of luck when he tried to ramp Ferguson early doors, but I don’t think he gave a chance. New Zealand brought up the fielders, he backed himself to hit it over them. He doesn’t try and over-hit the ball and try to muscle it. I think there’s still a lot of skill as there a lot of commentators were pointing out those were very good cricket shots.”
