Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand, stated that although we always wanted to play the Indian team, it was not possible today. He claimed that all of the teams eagerly anticipate the forthcoming World Cup and that more ODI games will be scheduled in the following year. Depending on the situation, we may modify our team. We aim to improve together as a team.

The first Twenty20 International match between India and New Zealand was cancelled on Friday, November 18, due to heavy rain in Wellington. India and New Zealand were scheduled to face off in the Sky Stadium on Friday in the two sides’ first match following their T20 World Cup campaign.

There Will Be Plenty Of Opportunities For Guys To Shine: Kane Williamson

Kane Williamson stated that there is depth in the bowling and that we will work on the lessons we’ve learnt from the World Cup. There are many players who will receive the chance to play in the World Cup.

“Quite quick after a major event, we’ve had a whole heap of T20 cricket in the past. We’re quite excited to play India irrespective though. Most teams gear up towards major events that are not too far away, and the ODI format will now be a great opportunity for guys to come in. I’m sure there will be plenty of opportunities for guys to shine.

We’ll have to wait and see what surfaces present us, and we need to adjust. But it is about getting better, especially in the knockout matches. The likes of Adam Milne were in the T20 World Cup squad but didn’t get an opportunity, so this is a good time to get them some game time.”

India Got Great Quality Irrespective Of The Names They Put Out: Kane Williamson

Williamson added that he has watched the Indian squad’s players in the IPL, and is confident that they will go on to become stars for this side. He also said that New Zealand and India won’t be fighting for third place in the World Cup in the upcoming match; instead, we’ll be starting from scratch.

He feels the players are prepared for this series after a week of rest, and the weather will be favourable for the ensuing game.

I’ve got no doubt they all will be big players for India, I’ve seen them all in the IPL. They’ve got great quality irrespective of the names they put out.

We’ll start fresh, this is a new series both sides are looking forward to. We both wanted to get to the final, but we’ve got a week to rest and get ourselves ready for this. It is usually sunny out there, with a bit of rain. Hopefully, we get a full house.
