South Africa pace legend Dale Steyn has lauded Indian team fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami as amazing and called them the key to India’s success in Tests recently. This comes after the Indian team breached the Centurion fortress by defeating South Africa by 113 runs in the first Test match.
It was India’s only fourth win in South Africa, two of which have come against in the last two tours under Virat Kohli’s leadership. The Indian bowlers were at their level best throughout the game. This win also gives India a 1-0 lead in the three-match series and a chance for Kohli and co. to register their maiden Test series win in South Africa.
Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah shared a total of 13 wickets out of 20 Proteas wickets to fall, with Shami picking 8 and Bumrah taking 5 wickets. Shami also completed his 200 wickets in Test matches, becoming the 11 Indian overall and fifth Indian pace bowler to reach the milestone.

They Were Smart And Used Conditions Well: Dale Steyn Analyses Success Of Mohammed Shami And Jasprit Bumrah
Cricket satirist Vikram Sathaye asked Dale Steyn on Twitter to analyze the impact Shami and Bumrah have had on the fans. Steyn said that both of them have been playing amazingly well for the team and they bowled attacking lines and lengths in the first Test. He also said that the duo used the conditions very well.
“Bumrah and Shami have been amazing for a while now, big keys for them, they bowl attacking lines & lengths (constantly) and move the ball very LATE. Day 1 vs Day 3/4/5 is a massive difference, the deck speeds up and things happen way faster. They were smart and used conditions well,” Steyn said.

“More detailed response. Bumrah has a unique action that does make him tricky to face, a good pace too! Shami has a great wrist & always threatens the outside & inside edge with that wonderful seam. MOST importantly, they experienced & NOW know how to take wickets! Cant teach that,” he added.
