India fast bowler Deepak Chahar is known for swinging the ball rather than having express pace and he showed why he is regarded so highly in the limited-overs format, as he troubled the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, and others in India nets in Centurion ahead of the first Test.

The Indian team will look for their first Test series win in South Africa when they face-off in Centurion from December 26. The second Test will be played in Johannesburg from January 3rd and the final Test will begin in Cape Town from January 11 onwards.

India has not won a single Test series in rainbow nation and has registered just 3 Test wins since their first tour in 1992. They were beaten 1-2 in their previous Test series in South Africa in 2017-18, but their bowling unit came good and showed glimpses of becoming world-beaters in the future.

Apart from the 18-member squad in South Africa for the Test series, the BCCI also added four players from the India A side that there previously as backup players which included the likes of Deepak Chahar, Navdeep Saini, Saurabh Kumar, and Arzan Nagwaswalla.

Chahar is seen troubling the likes of Priyank Panchal, Wriddhiman Saha, and even Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane couldn’t manage to get him away and Chahar even got them out LBW on a few occasions.

The 29-year-old has already established himself as one of India’s lethal weapons especially in the shorter format and it will be interesting to see when the pacer gets a chance in the red-ball format. India already has Shardul Thakur in the squad, who can also swing the ball and can bat.
