Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant played one hell of an innings against South Africa in the 3rd Test of the series as he ended up being India’s top scorer in the second innings of the match. Pant came in at a crucial time when team India were struggling for 58-4 in their second innings after Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane walked back to the pavilion in the first half an hour of the day’s play on Day 3 of the 3rd Test.

Team India had won the toss and batted first in the series decider at Cape Town as they were restricted to a below-par total of 223 in the first innings. However, the Indian bowlers bounced back in the game as they restricted the South African batting lineup to 201 runs in the second innings of the match.

Rishabh Pant and Indian skipper Virat Kohli stitched together a very important partnership for the 6th wicket and carried India to a respectable total. However, after Virat’s dismissal, wickets kept falling at regular intervals as Rishabh Pant approached his century in the third innings. As Pant usually is, he kept the note on a lighter side and one of his antics had the commentators and umpires burst into laughter in the 60th over of the Indian innings.

On the second delivery of the 60th over, Pant smashed the ball towards cover and did not take the single as it would have put Mohammed Shami on the strike and would have increased South Africa’s chances of picking up another wicket. However, after hitting the ball and in an attempt to stabilise himself, Pant ran towards Point and came back to the batting crease that left everyone in splits.

Team India Crusie Past A Lead Of 200 Runs

The India National Cricket Team went past the lead of 200 runs in their final innings of the Tests series as the South African bowlers hunted in pairs throughout day 3 of the final Test in Cape Town. However, Rishabh Pant stood tall and until this report was written, the swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batsman had smashed 93 runs being not out in the 2nd innings.

The Indian bowlers will once again have a task at their disposal as they walk out to defend the low total in case India suffers a collapse of a final couple of wickets in quick succession. If India wins the Test match, it will be a historic feat as it will be their first Test series win in the rainbow nation.
