IND vs WI: Danish Kaneria Feels Deepak Hooda Should Replace Suryakumar Yadav In 2nd T20I

Former Pakistan National Cricket Team player Danish Kaneria has said that the star India National Cricket Team middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav should get replaced by the in-form batting all-rounder Deepak Hooda in the second T20I of the five-match T20I series against West Indies National Cricket Team.

The second T20I between India and West Indies is set to be played at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts on August 1. Star batter Suryakumar had a poor run in the recently concluded three-match ODI series against West Indies as he registered scores of 13,9 and 8. In the first T20I, Suryakumar was dismissed by spinner Akeal Hosein and he scored 24 runs off 16 balls.

Talking about Hooda, the 27-year-old averages 68.33 with the bat in the 6 T20Is he has played for India also he has smashed his runs at a strike rate of 172.26.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Kaneria said that the middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer has not been consistent with the bat. He asserted:

“Shreyas Iyer got his chance due to his ODI form. But he hasn’t been consistent. I feel Deepak Hooda should replace Suryakumar Yadav as the latter has not been in good form in West Indies. I think Deepak Hooda is in great form and consistent chances should be given to him.”

Kaneria further lauded India National Cricket Team skipper Rohit for his brilliant captaincy in the first T20I against West Indies. He explained:

“Rohit Sharma’s brilliant captaincy was once again on display during the setup of Hetmyer’s wicket. He told the straighter mid-on to go a bit wider, and the very next ball from Ashwin was toe-ended by Hetmyer into the hands of that fielder Suryakumar.”

Notably, India won the first game of the T20I series by 68 runs and Dinesh Karthik was awarded Player of the Match for his sensational cameo knock.
