The 25-year-old West Indies National Cricket Team left-arm pacer Obed McCoy was in top-notch form in the second T20I against India National Cricket Team. He bagged a six-wicket haul in the match and dedicated it to his sick mother.

The second T20I between India and West Indies was played at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts. The West Indies left-arm pacer dismissed India captain Rohit Sharma for a golden duck in the first over and then went on to pick the wickets of Suryakumar Yadav, Dinesh Karthik, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ravichandran Ashwin.

India were bowled out for 138 runs and West Indies chased down the target with 4 balls remaining to win the match by 5 wickets and level the series 1-1.

Also, Obed McCoy became the first bowler in T20I history to pick up a six-wicket haul against India as well as bag a six-wicket haul for West Indies. He finished with the bowling figures of 4-1-17-6.

Speaking during the post-match presentation ceremony, after winning the Player of the Match award for his sensational performance, the 25-year-old left-arm pacer said:

“I want to thank God. I’m doing this for my mom, she is home sick. This is motivating me to be a better player. Thankful for it.”

“It put a lot of pressure on their batters. I always look for wickets in the powerplay because that stops batsmen from scoring runs in the powerplay,” he stated.

McCoy added that he was overthinking a lot in the first T20I against India, but went into the second T20I with a clear mind.

“Went in with a clear mind. Was overthinking in the previous game,” McCoy said.

“It gives me a lot of challenge and experience. Helps groom me as a player,” he said while talking about his ability to bowl in the powerplay.
