All of the senior members of the white ball team, with the probable exception of Virat Kohli, are anticipated to play in the five-game series, therefore the India Twenty20 squad for the forthcoming matches in the Caribbean will be at full strength.

R Ashwin, who hasn’t played in an international white-ball game for India in more than seven months, may possibly get a surprise call-up to the squad.

Selection Committee To Ensure All T20I Regulars Participate In The Series

The selection committee will ensure that all T20I regulars are participating in the series, two of which are in the US, despite resting the majority of the seniors for the three ODIs that precede the T20Is against the West Indies, the possibility of which was the first reported by this website on July 5.

The selection for the third and final T20I against England on July 10 is set to comprise Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and Hardik Pandya.

According to Cricbuzz, the selection committee headed by Chetan Sharma and the team management, led by coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit, both want to attempt every potential lineup before deciding on the starting lineup for the World Cup in Australia in October-November.

After giving them enough chances, both groups have decided which players to leave off their World Cup rosters.

Virat Kohli To Be Rested, Ravichandran Ashwin May Get Surprise Indian Team Call

Since Virat Kohli is an important component of the World Cup decision-makers plans, his absence cannot be interpreted as a sign that he is not involved in the overall picture.

He is thought to have asked the West Indies series selection committee, team management, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to not take him into consideration. Rest rather than the axe will be the strategy.

Ashwin, who was picked up in team India for the T20 World Cup in the UAE last year but has not received many opportunities subsequently for a number of reasons, including fitness, is another player the management and selectors want to put to the test.

However, Ashwin was informed that his knowledge and abilities are used in their plans when Dravid and Rohit took over the Indian team’s leadership in November. If he isn’t called up for the West Indies series soon, if not right away, it will come as a surprise.

SLC Ready To Host Asia Cup: Mohan De Silva

The Indian squad will have another chance to test out new players after the West Indies series at the Asia Cup, which is probably going to be hosted in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said that it is prepared to host the T20 event from August 27 to September 11 after months of uncertainty.

“We will leave it to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to make the announcement but our board president Shammi Silva has informed Jay Shah, the president of ACC, about our preparedness to hold the event,” Mohan de Silva, secretary of the SLC, told Cricbuzz.

The country’s economic and political turmoil put the tournament in peril, but it’s said that the administration there is desperate for the tournament to take place on the island itself. Australia is now being hosted by Sri Lanka, and Pakistan will be invited soon.
