As originally predicted, KL Rahul is not set to make the trip to the West Indies for the five-match T20I series. According to ESPNcricinfo, even though Rahul’s isolation period—he tested positive for Covid-19 last week—ends today, the BCCI’s medical staff has urged him to take another week off to relax and recover.

Even if he returned the two required negative tests, Rahul was believed to be a doubt for the T20I part of the West Indies tour and was recuperating at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru since having a sports hernia surgery in late June.

KL Rahul Likely To Make Comeback Against Zimbabwe

He will soon play again for his country during the ODI series in Zimbabwe. On August 18, 20, and 22, India will play three one-day internationals in Harare as part of the World Cup Super League.

Rahul had recently returned from surgery in Germany and was back at the NCA in Bengaluru for training. The opening batter was unlikely to go to the West Indies after testing positive for Covid-19.

Rahul has been sidelined for more than a month. He was slated to captain India against South Africa in a five-match T20I series soon after the IPL. But a groyne ailment before the first game of the series prevented him from competing.

Rahul was selected for the West Indies series team after passing a fitness test, however he was unable to take the test after testing positive and was placed in isolation.
