Parthiv Patel, a former wicket-keeper, praised Arshdeep Singh for his heroics in the final overs, which helped India get back into the match.

In the second Twenty20 International, which took place yesterday in St. Kitts, India lost by five wickets thanks in large part to the 22-year-old pacer’s 1-26 off four overs (August 1).

In the 17th over of the second innings, the left-arm seamer was summoned back into the fray after giving up 16 runs in his opening session. The equation stated 27 runs needed off the final three overs after Arshdeep’s penultimate over had only produced four runs. To give India 10 runs to defend off the final over, the bowler from Punjab bowled yet another tight over that included the wicket of Rovman Powell.

Parthiv Patel stated on Cricbuzz that Arshdeep Singh takes the captain’s job easier:

“You could sense the confidence in him because he has been bowling those difficult overs for Punjab Kings, which is what he has been doing. When Rohit entered the room, he did not engage Arshdeep in conversation, which indicated that he knew what he was going to do. That demonstrates his maturity and how much he has picked up while bowling for Punjab.”

‘Arshdeep used the angle really well’: Parthiv Patel

The left-arm bowler is building a compelling case for selection for the 2022 T20 World Cup after earning his international debut in Southampton’s maiden T20I match against England. The young cricketer has had a successful start to his international career with five wickets at an economy of under six.

Parthiv Patel praised Arshdeep’s versatility as a death bowler and said:

“Arshdeep utilized the angle effectively; the ball was not reversing in the traditional sense, but he used it incredibly well, especially with Powell’s wicket where it appeared to swing in.”

At the same stadium later today, India will play West Indies in the third T20I of the series (August 2). It should be mentioned that the game will be postponed by 1.5 hours.
