IND vs WI: Rishabh Pant Continues To Show That Weakness Outside Off-stump – Danish Kaneria

Former Pakistan National Cricket Team player Danish Kaneria has said that the West Indies National Cricket Team pacer Keemo Paul took the advantage of Rishabh Pant’s outside off-stump weakness to dismiss the young India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman in the first T20I at the Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad on Friday, July 29.

In the first game against West Indies, Pant continued his poor run of form in T20I cricket and he was able to score just 14 runs off 12 balls, including 2 fours, before being dismissed by the 24-year-old pacer Keemo Paul on the last ball of the 10th over.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, the 41-year-old highlighted Pant’s weakness outside off stump. He elaborated:

“Rishabh Pant continues to show that weakness outside off-stump and this time it was Keemo Paul who took advantage. Pant feels that whenever the ball is in his arc outside off, he backs himself to hit it over covers for a six. But he often manages to slice it to a short third man, which is exactly what happened.”

The 24-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman has played 51 T20Is for India National Cricket Team and he has scored 782 runs at an average of 22.34 and a poor strike rate of 124.32.

Former Pakistan National Cricket Team leg-spinner further said that the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman should bat in the lower middle-order in T20I cricket. He asserted:

“For me, Rishabh Pant’s ideal batting position in T20Is is lower down the order. Rohit Sharma can open with Shreyas Iyer in the next game, with Deepak Hooda or Suryakumar Yadav to follow and then you have Hardik, Dinesh Karthik and Jadeja too. So Pant can bat a bit lower.”
