IND vs WI: Rohit Sharma Gave Avesh Khan That Confidence And He Was Brilliant, The Way He Came Back – Parthiv Patel

Former India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel hailed the Madhya Pradesh pacer Avesh Khan for his brilliant performance in the 4th T20I against West Indies National Cricket Team and credited skipper Rohit Sharma for giving confidence to the right-arm pacer.

The 25-year-old bagged 2 wickets for 17 runs in the 4th T20I of the five-match T20I series against the West Indies National Cricket Team on August 6 at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida.

The right-arm pacer picked up the wickets of Brandon King and Devon Thomas in the match where India defeated the Caribbean side by 59 runs to take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series.

Speaking on Cricbuzz, Parthiv said that the young pacer would be pleased with his performance in the 4th T20I after struggling in the last few games. He added that Avesh showed in the 4th T20I that he has the ability to adapt to different conditions. He asserted:

“He’ll (Avesh) be very happy. We predicted that he would bowl his four overs. That’s what Rohit (Sharma) did. Rohit gave him that confidence and he bowled very cleverly today (Saturday). Avesh was brilliant, the way he came back. He showed that he had the ability to adapt to the situation.”

The 37-year-old further said that captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid have created a positive team environment and they give confidence to every player. He said:

“Every player who comes into the Indian team, he wants that sense of belonging, especially in that Indian dressing room. That’s something which Rahul bhai and Rohit Sharma understand really well. They give that confidence to every player that, ‘yes you belong here’.”

Parthiv further said that making a comeback to international cricket after going through a lean patch is never an easy thing. He said:

“Coming back in international cricket is a very tough thing, one of the toughest. Having a couple of big scars. He was perhaps coming in with a lot of doubts in his mind. After that, coming out and performing that way (was commendable).”
