Salman Butt, a former Pakistan cricketer, believes that Rohit Sharma’s injury issues may be one of the causes for Team India’s experimentation with different top-of-the-order lineups. Butt acknowledges that the captain’s ongoing fitness difficulties will worry the Men in Blue.
On Tuesday, August 2, in St. Kitts, during the third T20I against the West Indies, Rohit retired hurt after scoring 11. He had previously been declared unable to travel to South Africa because of a hamstring ailment. After testing positive for COVID-19, he even skipped the test that was rescheduled for England.
Salman Butt stated the following on his YouTube channel in regards to the top-order changes in India:
“I have no idea what India’s opening lineup will be” (for the T20 World Cup). But I believe that Rohit Sharma’s recurrent injuries will be on the minds of the team management. He recently tested positive for COVID-19 and had sustained several wounds.”

Salman Butt added that Team India must have backup players in case the captain is unable to play in the T20 World Cup in Australia.
“He has come and gone for a variety of reasons. You will need two to three additional players who are mentally prepared for the part in this circumstance. Because of this, you might notice that players are being changed around or given more exposure.”
“KL Rahul and Rohit will open if they are both well. India must be ready for that scenario as well, just in case they are not readily available.”
KL Rahul is now recovering after testing positive for COVID-19, excluding him from the present T20I series in the West Indies. He had a successful sports hernia operation in Germany at the end of June.
