India skipper Rohit Sharma managed to score 33 runs in 16 balls in the 4th T20I against the West Indies. He is thus the 7th Indian batsman to have scored 16,000 runs in international cricket across all formats.
The T20I series between India and the West Indies have reached an interesting point, with India leading 3-1.
After being rested for the ODI series, Rohit Sharma is back in charge of the team for this series and has been playing well. The Indian captain displayed an aggressive style of batting in the current fourth T20I at Fort Lauderhill in the United States.
Against the Caribbean men, he smashed 33 runs in 16 balls in an innings that featured two fours and three sixes.
Rohit Sharma entered an elite group with this brief but significant performance, becoming the seventh Indian batsman to reach 16,000 runs in international cricket across all formats. The only other Indian batsmen to reach this milestone are Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli, and Virender Sehwag.
Rohit Sharma’s total number of runs on the international stage is now exactly 16,000 after scoring 9,376 runs in ODIs, 3,487 runs in T20Is, and 3,137 runs in Test Matches.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has also surpassed Shahid Afridi:
By hitting three sixes in the fourth Twenty20 International match between West Indies and India taking place at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida on August 6, 2022, India captain Rohit passed Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi for second place among all international cricketers.
Before Akeal Hossein bowled him, he had scored 33 runs in just 16 balls and was poised for more. He struck two fours and three sixes during his knock. And as a result of his three sixes, he overtook Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi for second place on the list of international cricketers with the most sixes hit.
