Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya applauded the batting efforts of Suryakumar Yadav in the third T20I against West Indies on Tuesday.
The Indian team management drew heavy criticism for promoting Suryakumar to open the innings with skipper Rohit Sharma in the first two T20I matches. Suryakumar, who usually bats at No.4, made scores of 24 and 11 in his new batting position.

Suryakumar Yadav is someone who is an exceptional player: Hardik Pandya
The Mumbai batter shunned down the noise with a 44-ball 76, including eight fours and four sixes, batting at 172.73. He set the tone for India to chase 165 and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant played a sensible knock of 33 in 26 balls to finish the proceedings with six balls to spare.
“Surya (Suryakumar Yadav) is someone who is an exceptional player, when he starts playing some shots, you are just in awe. A lot of credit goes to him, he has worked hard. He is getting his due late in his life, but god is kind to him and he is getting the maximum,” Hardik said in a press conference after the game.

I have enjoyed bowling whenever I have bowled: Hardik Pandya
Hardik finished his bowling spell 1 for 19 from four overs and picked the important wicket of Brandon King just when West Indies’ opening pair were coming hard against India.
Hardik bowled a good length delivery, while King was trying to play across the stumps but found an inside edge that crashed into his stumps. The Indian all-rounder became the sixth bowler from his country to complete 50 dismissals in T20Is.
“Obviously, I have enjoyed bowling whenever I have bowled. I have mentioned it earlier multiple times, that this was the reason that I felt I should take some time off so that my bowling comes in because I have realised that when I bowl, it gives a lot of balance to the side and confidence to the captain. Yes, I used to bowl before, I used to be a filler if someone is not bowling. I can proudly say that now I can bowl four overs as the third or fourth seamer. I can contribute as equally as I do with the bat,” said Hardik.
The fourth T20I between West Indies and India is scheduled to be played at Central Broward Park, Lauderhill, Florida in the United States of America (USA) on August 6.
