The Zimbabwe men’s cricket squad has had a busy last 30 days. They qualified for the major event for the sixth time after defeating Papua New Guinea by 27 runs in the first semifinal of the T20 World Cup Qualifiers at home.

Most importantly, Zimbabwe will compete in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia for the first time since 2016.

We Need To Be On Top Of Our Game To Win The Series: Ryan Burl

That isn’t everything. The Chevrons defeated Bangladesh 2-1 to win their first bilateral T20I series against a higher-ranked team. Following that, they won the ODI series against them 2-1, with a packed house of home fans cheering them on.

Ryan Burl left-handed batting allrounder in an interview with IANS talked about the upcoming series against India.

On the series, he said, “We would like to try and win the series. How we do that, I don’t mind that as long as we get the wins. But it’s India and one of the best teams in the world.

“They are not going to put up an easy fight; it’s going to be difficult. Hopefully, with our home ground advantage, we can try and pull a cat out of the hat and put out something special.”

When asked about who the important player will be for the team, Burl said, “To be honest, you can’t guarantee runs in a match. It’s really important that if one or two of us aren’t coming off, then someone else steps up and puts their hand up. But a few of us have been scoring quite a few runs.

“Hopefully, we keep riding that train and let the form continue. We are obviously looking forward to the challenge. India is not going to be easy. We need to be on top of our game.”

The last time India visited Zimbabwe, they won the ODI series 3-0 and the T20I series 2-1.
