The India women's cricket team represents India in women's international cricket. They are also called Women in Blue. The team is governed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
A full member of the ICC, the Indian women's team has Test, ODI and T20I status. The current captain of the team is Harmanpreet Kaur while the head coach is Amol Muzumdar.
The Indian team's journey in women's international cricket began in the year 1976 when it played a Test against West Indies at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Two years later, the India women's cricket team played its first ODI against England at the Eden Gardens in Calcutta (now Kolkata).
In 2006, India played their first T20I against England. The Indian team is yet to win the World Cup in any format. Their best result in the ODI World Cup is the runners-up finish in 2005 and 2017. In 2005, India lost against Australia before suffering a loss against England in 2017.
In the women's T20 World Cup, India have reached the final once. In 2020, India lost the final of the T20 World Cup against Australia. While India are yet to taste success in the World Cup, they have thoroughly dominated the Asia Cup so far.
They have won the Asia Cup a record seven times. India have won the ODI Asia Cup 4 times in 2004, 2005-06, 2006, 2008 and the T20I Asia Cup 3 times in 2012, 2016, 2022.
