Rajasthan Royals explosive opener Jos Buttler mentioned he did not get enough practice ahead of the IPL 2022. Buttler has had a tremendous run this year with the bat, scoring 718 runs in 15 innings at 51.29 and a strike rate of 148.35.

Buttler scored three centuries this year and is the leading run-scorer of the tournament, 102 runs ahead of second-placed KL Rahul (616 runs in 15 innings) on the list.

Jos Buttler 89 in vain as Gujrat Titans emerge victorious in Qualifier 1

The Englishman hit 89 off 56 balls in the Qualifier 1 match against Gujarat Titans to post 188/6. However, Buttler’s magnificent knock went in vain as the Titans chased the target on the back of David Miller’s fireworks in the end.

I had two months of no cricket: Jos Buttler

Ahead of IPL 2022, Buttler last played a T20 match in the T20 World Cup 2021 last year for England. The 31-year-old featured in the team for Ashes but was ruled out for the final Test in Hobart due to an injury.

You know, I came to the tournament having not played much cricket at all. I left the Ashes due to the broken finger. I had been dropped for the West Indies tour, so I had two months of no cricket. It was actually really good for me, made me really fresh, but obviously, I came having not played T20 since the World Cup,” Buttler said in a video posted on RR’s Twitter handle.

“So, I think to score that 100 (vs Mumbai Indians) has just given the sort of platform and the confidence to relax and go into the rest of that tournament from that point,” he added.

Buttler was one of the three players Rajasthan retained in the IPL 2022 players’ retention list even though he missed the second phase of IPL 2021. Buttler wanted to be with his wife for the birth of their second child at that point.

Rajasthan Royals will play Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Qualifier 2 on Friday (May 27) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
