Gujarat Titans (GT) all-rounder Rahul Tewatia revealed that he has not spoken to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni and wanted to have a word with him to discuss his finishing skills with the bat, as the two teams are clashing in the 62nd match of the IPL 2022 in Wankhede Stadium.

Tewatia is regarded by many as one of the best finishers in the T20 game right now. He was asked before the Titans’ against Chennai Super Kings about the lessons he has learned from MS Dhoni. Interestingly, the all-rounder said that he has never had a word with the Super Kings captain.

Tewatia said in an interview with the host broadcasters: “For a long time, I have been wanting to talk to him, but I have not been able to do that (smiles). I hope that I can have a chat with him today, and I can discuss my finishing skills and talk cricket with him. Yes, I am kind of a shy person. It takes me a little time before I mix up with everyone, but I hope I can talk to Mahi bhai today.”

Having A Set Batter At The Other End Has Helped Me During Finishing Games: Rahul Tewatia

Gujarat Titans were the first team to qualify for the playoffs in the IPL 2022, and much credit has to be given to GT finishers in David Miller, Rahul Tewatia and even Rashid Khan. Tewatia, in a match against Punjab Kings, hit two sixes off the last two balls of the last over when 12 runs were needed to win.

When asked about his secret to success, especially while batting second, the Gujarat Titans star responded: “When you chase a target, you know the exact runs you need to score. Then you need to target a bowler. We have been doing that thing well. We decide one bowler and attack him all-out. The best thing that has happened to me this season is a set batter is there in the middle when I come to bat. So that thing helps my confidence.”

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings won the toss and MS Dhoni decided that his team will bat first. They made four changes to their playing XI bringing in N Jagadeesan, Prashant Solanki, Mitchell Santner and Matheesha Pathirana.
