Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) uncapped batter Suyash Prabhudesai said he regularly interacts with senior players like Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik to learn their inputs about the game. The Goa player made his IPL debut on Tuesday against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
RCB lost to CSK by 23 runs as the latter secured its first win of the season, courtesy of a 165-run stand between Robin Uthappa (88) and Shivam Dube (95*). The duo escalated CSK’s total to 216/4 after they were stuck at 36/2 just after the powerplay.

In the big chase, RCB were reduced to 50/4 at the end of the seventh over, Suyash, batting ahead of Karthik, joined Shahbaz Ahmed at the crease. The duo put up 60 runs in their alliance to keep RCB in the game. Suyash played the aggressor’s role as he scored an enterprising 18-ball 34.
Suyash slog-swept Moeen Ali for his first IPl four before cracking one through extra cover off Chris Jordan. The Goa batter scooped the England pacer to display his innovation with the bat and later played a sweep and a slog-sweep off CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja.
I keep talking to seniors a lot: Suyash Prabhudesai
Suyash’s brilliant inning was halted by Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana, who cleaned up the IPL debutant to bring CSK back in the game. After the match, the 24-year-old opened up about his interaction with senior RCB players over the last year.
“The management has backed me a lot. I have been with RCB since last year and I have got to learn a lot. I keep talking to seniors a lot. Last year, AB (de Villiers) sir was there as well. I keep interacting with Virat (Kohli) bhai, DK (Dinesh Karthik).
“As we all know, DK bhai is a very good finisher. I have learnt a lot from him this year. My intent is very clear when I go out to bat, and I back my strengths,” Suyash said in the post-match press conference.
“When I was batting with Shahbaz, we both decided that, whatever happens, we’ll keep our intent clear. We both went out with positive intent, so we were just seeing opportunities to score runs.
We were waiting for loose balls so that we could score more and more runs. We knew that the boundary on one side of the wicket was very big and the other side was very small. We were trying to capitalize on that,” he added.
RCB will play their next game against Delhi Capitals on April 16 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
