Aakash Chopra, a former Indian opener and cricket specialist, says the Rajasthan Royals (RR) have done an excellent job selecting a well-balanced bowling attack for the IPL 2022 season.

RR spent a lot of money on players like Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna, as well as the veterans Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin. Therefore, according to Aakash Chopra, provides them with an opportunity over the other teams and nobody else has their bowler’s department’s experience and expertise.

Aakash Chopra, had this to say about RR’s bowling acquisitions:

“You won’t get a good four-bowler pairing somewhere else. Yuzi Chahal, Ashwin, Boult, and Prasidh Krishna are on the team. There really are eight overs of spin and eight overs of fast. They may also be able to seek some help through Neesham and Riyan Parag.”

Why Buttler will play in the middle order, as per Aakash Chopra:

Aakash Chopra, as well as many others, was astounded by RR’s deal to spend INR 7.75 crore for Ex Royal challengers Bangalore batsman Devdutt Padikkal having kept Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler.

Whereas the RR think tank has recommended Padikkal play at No. 3, Chopra believes the 21-year-old must start the innings alongside Jaiswal. He expressed his opinion as follows:

“Despite keeping players like Samson, Jaiswal, and Buttler, RR went all out for Devdutt Padikkal, and we were all taken aback. With whom will you begin? That is the only difficult question they must answer.”

As per  Aakash Chopra, RR makes a lot of mistakes in their middle-order, and the addition of Buttler could help them advance in the middle-over. He continued, ”

“They should begin Padikkal with Jaiswal and see what happens, then bat Buttler in the middle order, in my opinion. This is because, except Karun Nair and Riyan Parag, RR’s middle-order is devoid of a seasoned Indian batter.”

Rajasthan Royals’ first match will be played with Sunrisers Hyderabad in MCA Stadium, Pune on 29 March 2022.
