IPL 2022 Auction: 3 Former Captains Who Might Not Get A Bid In The Auction. The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League, IPL 2022 is all set to be a grand affair. With the addition of 2 new teams in the form of Lucknow and Ahmedabad, IPL 2022 will also have a mega auction.

The retention ahead of the auction took place on November 30 as plenty of senior players were released by their franchises.  With a plethora of young and budding talent around the corner, some senior players might find it difficult to make the cut into any of the IPL teams in this year’s auction and thus, we take a look at the 3 former IPL captains who might not get a bid in IPL 2022 auction.

3. Suresh Raina

Known as the Mr IPL, Suresh Raina has been on the summit of records in the history of the Indian Premier League, representing his beloved franchise, Chennai Super Kings, the 4-time IPL champions. When Chennai Super Kings were banned from the Indian Premier League for a couple of seasons in 2016 and 2017, Suresh Raina led the Gujarat Lions franchise.

However, ahead of the IPL 2022 auction, he was released by the Chennai Super Kings franchise and if he goes into the auction, he might not get a single bid from any of the franchises considering the form that he depicted in IPL 2021 and also because of the fact that Raina has stopped playing international cricket, announcing his retirement from international cricket along with MS Dhoni on August 15, 2020.

2. Eoin Morgan

Although Eoin Morgan has been one of the key reasons behind England’s dominance in white-ball cricket over the last five years, his individual performances have hit the rock bottom over the last couple of years. In IPL too, he has led Kolkata Knight Riders well in IPL 2021 but his bat didn’t do the talking and that is the reason why KKR decided on releasing their captain ahead of the IPL 2022 auction.

It can be a possibility that Eoin Morgan might not find a bid as far as the IPL 2022 auction is concerned as his statistics have gone down considerably.

1. Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane, the former captain of Rajasthan Royals, has had a forgetful couple of seasons in the Indian Premier League in IPL 2020 and IPL 2021. He was bought by the Delhi Capitals franchise but he couldn’t fit in the first XI for the majority of the games in both the seasons and in the limited opportunities that Rahane had, he let them slip away.

Delhi Capitals released him ahead of the IPL 2022 auction and it is all but certain that Rahane might not find a bid for himself in the IPL 2022 auction considering the fact that his performances in the Indian Test side have also hit the rock bottom.
