IPL 2022 Auction: 5 Players With A 4 Year Plus Tenure With Their Franchise Who Were Released

The stage is set for IPL 2022 auction which is scheduled to take place in February next year. The next edition of IPL will witness a clash among 10 teams instead of 8, as two new franchises Lucknow and Ahmedabad have been added to the tournament. A few weeks ago, the old 8 franchises retained a few players in their squad for the next edition.

The 8 teams retained a total of 27 players in their squad. Out of these, there were 19 Indian players and 8 foreign players. There were many players in the released list who had a long tenure with their respective franchises. 5. Shreyas Iyer (DC)

Shreyas Iyer was signed by Delhi Capitals in IPL 2015. The franchise bought the right-handed batsman during IPL 2015 auction for a price of Rs. 2.6 crore. He was retained by the franchise in every subsequent season. He was also promoted as skipper midway during IPL 2018.

However, ahead of IPL 2022, the right-handed parted ways with the franchise and was part of the released players. In his IPL career, Iyer has scored 2375 runs in 87 games at an average of 31.66. He has also slammed 16 half-centuries.

4. Hardik Pandya (MI)

Hardik Pandya is another player in this list. Pandya was picked by Mumbai Indians during IPL 2015 auction for Rs. 10 lakh. With his all-around quality, he became a key player for the team and the franchise retained him for many seasons.

However, after his poor batting show in IPL 2021, the team released him from the squad ahead of IPL 2022 auction. In 92 matches in the tournament, the right-handed batsman accounts for 1476 runs and 42 wickets.

3. Yuzvendra Chahal (RCB)

Yuzvendra Chahal was not retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore for IPL 2022 and it was a piece of shocking news for many fans. The leg spinner was bought by the franchise long back in IPL 2014 auction for Rs. 10 lakh. With his brilliant performance, Chahal became the leading spinner for the team and was retained in every season over the years.

However, the franchise parted with the spinners and retained only Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Siraj for next season. Chahal has hunted 139 wickets in 114 matches in his IPL career at an average of 22.28.

2. Rashid Khan (SRH)

Rashid Khan is another player in this list. Sunrisers Hyderabad bought the Afghan player for Rs. 4 crore during IPL 2017 auction. The leg spinner remained one of the top spinners in IPL over the years and the franchise retained him season after season.

However, ahead of IPL 2022, the franchise could not crack a deal with the spinner and released him out of the squad. Rashid Khan has picked 93 wickets in 76 matches in IPL at an average of 20.55.

1. Suresh Raina (CSK)

Suresh Raina is another player in this list and perhaps one of the players with the biggest tenure with a single franchise. Raina was bought by Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2008 auction which was the debut edition of the tournament. He remained with the franchise over the years and played a major role in the team.

For two years in IPL 2016 and IPL 2017, represented Gujarat Lions as CSK was banned for two years. However, he was again picked by the franchise in IPL 2018 auction. The team finally released him from the squad ahead of IPL 2022. In 205 matches in IPL 2021, the left-handed batsman has slammed 5528 runs.
