IPL 2022: Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav in an episode on Breakfast With Champions has revealed that he was disappointed when he wasn’t selected for the tour down under in 2020-2021.
Suryakumar Yadav has been a prolific run-scorer3 for Mumbai Indians in the IPL since he joined them in 2018. Surya scored runs not only in the IPL but also in domestic cricket. Many people had believed that Suryakumar Yadav will find a place on the Indian side for the Australian tour. But it didn’t happen. Surya was disappointed by his non-selection.

As cricketers, the only thing in hand is to score runs or take wickets, and that’s exactly what Surya did after he was ignored for the Australia tour. In a match against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2020 IPL at Abu Dhabi, he scored 79 not out and carried his team over the line.
“During IPL 2020, people around me were saying that I would be there in the squad but I wasn’t included, so I was like, how did this happen. I was playing well for the last 2-to to 3 years. Rohit bhai also asked me if I was disappointed, I just said, What do I even say,” Surya revealed in his conversation with Gaurav Kapoor.
Talking about the game against RCB, Surya said: “Ahead of the game, Rohit bhai, Zak Bhai and Mahela Jayawardene told me that this is the opportunity to show everyone what you got. But in the back of my mind, I had still not gotten over the disappointment. Thankfully we fielded first and the rush of blood reduced. I wasn’t then thinking much and just went with the flow.”
Suryakumar Yadav was selected for the home series against England last year and since then he hasn’t looked back. He’s been amongst one of the better middle-order batters for India in the last 12 months.
