IPL 2022: Daryl Mitchell Leaves Rajasthan Royals Squad To Join New Zealand Squad For England Tests
Daryl Mitchell, a New Zealand all-rounder, has left the Rajasthan Royals side ahead of the Indian Premier League’s Qualifier 2. Mitchell is part of the New Zealand Test Squad which is to take on England in the Test series starting June 2 at Lords, London.
Mitchell went unsold in the first round of auctions earlier this year but he was acquired by RR in the last round for his base price of 75 Lacs.
He played just a couple of games for the team but could not contribute significantly.
Once A Royal, Always A Royal: Kumar Sangakkara Wishes Well To Daryl Mitchell
The RR official social media handles posted the news about Mitchell leaving the team. In the video, RR’s head of cricket operations, Kumar Sangakkara wished Mitchell well for the Test series. He said, “Daryl has been with us right from the start, he has been an exceptional part of our group, he is done a huge amount for us in terms of energy, being the character he is, helping out, supporting, playing, fielding and getting to know each of us. So we have asked everyone from the start to give a little bit to the group and Daryl has done an amazing job for us in that regard.
We are extremely grateful for your contribution and unbelievably happy for you to be part of our squad. We wish you the best for your series against England. We would be watching the game and cheering for you.”
Mitchell was disappointed that he had to leave the team at this time of the tournament but he said he would wait for the video call when the team lifts the IPL trophy.
This was Mitchell’s first-ever stint in the IPL.
