In what is very good news for the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), fast bowler Deepak Chahar is expected to be back in action from April 25 onwards in the ongoing IPL 2022 tournament. This will give a huge boost to the Ravindra Jadeja-led team which has lost both its first two games of the tournament.

Deepak Chahar had suffered a quad tear during the limited-overs series against West Indies and subsequently missed the white-ball series against Sri Lanka and was ruled out for the good portion of the Indian Premier League edition 15. He had been in rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, after opting not to go the surgery route and instead work on the injury via rehab.

The Rajasthan paceman is still in Bengaluru and it’s understood that he will be released from NCA in two weeks’ time. Once released, he will join the CSK camp in Mumbai and if all goes well, the pacer should be ready by April 25 for the game against Punjab Kings.

Chennai Super Kings Affected By Their Fast Bowling Department Being Ailed

The CSK franchise has been besieged with their fast bowlers battling ailments off the field and their Indian pacer contingent not having adequate experience at this level. This has been their bane in the two matches they have played thus far.

Currently, the CSK team has a couple of fitness issues with their frontline pacers Adam Milne and Chris Jordan, which forced the management to field two rookies in Mukesh Choudhary and Tushar Deshpande on Thursday. Milne had suffered a side strain ahead of the second match, Jordan was admitted to a Mumbai hospital for six days due to a tonsil infection.

This led to CSK being hampered by playing only three overseas players against Lucknow and a depleted bowling attack featuring two inexperienced pacers with Mukesh Choudhary making his debut in IPL.

While Milne is unlikely to be fit for CSK’s game against Punjab Kings on Sunday, the management is hoping that Jordan would recover just in time for the crucial match. This is due to Shivam Dube, their other bowling option going for 25 runs on one over against LSG and handing the match to the opposition on a silver platter.
