IPL 2022 Final: Don't Know About The Party Tonight But I Won't Be Sleeping - Rahul Tewatia Delighted As GT Wins IPL 2022

All-rounder Rahul Tewatia was pivotal in assisting Gujarat Titans with bringing home the IPL championship. In the fifteenth edition of IPL, Tewatia won many tight games for Gujarat Titans all alone. Tewatia looked extremely blissful in the wake of turning into the group’s hero. He said that his objective was to make the team champions.

Gujarat brought home the championship by overcoming Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets in the final match. However, Tewatia was not able to bat and bowl in the low-scoring final.

The Plan Was To Take It Deep And For The Finishers To Finish: Rahul Tewatia

After the match, Tewatia was engaged in a conversation with commentator Harsha Bhogle.

“There is a saying now that after winning a close match, the team has done a Tewatia. Your team has done a Tewatia”, Harsha Bhogle said. To this statement, the all-rounder replied:

“There was a relaxed atmosphere during Qualifier 1, we knew we were playing well this season. The plan was to take it deep and for the finishers to finish.”

I Won’t Be Sleeping Tonight: Rahul Tewatia

On being asked about his personal goals before the tournament and his plans for this successful night, Tewatia said that:

“I don’t know about the party, when at the beginning of the season, someone asked me what were my goals, I told them there was no personal goals but it will be great if we could win. It was a new team, new environment and don’t know about the party tonight but I won’t be sleeping.”

Team Management Backed Me And David Miller: Rahul Tewatia

Harsha Bhogle mentioned that after the mega-auction, everyone had the belief that this team might not perform well, but the way the players of GT established themselves in this tournament has been commendable.

“After the auctions there were saying our team had batsmen short, experienced batsmen short but the way the management backed David [Miller] and me was good. The captain trusts me and keeps telling me to trust your game and keep finishing like you do,” Tewatia replied.

Rahul Tewatia played 16 matches in the fifteenth season of IPL in which he scored a sum of 217 runs. During this, his most elevated individual score was 43 not out. Tewatia hit 22 fours and 9 sixes during this period. In the final played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat confined Rajasthan to a score of 130.

Pursuing the target, the Gujarat Titans scored 133 runs for 3 wickets in 18.1 overs, winning the match and the title.

Gujarat had equipped for the playoff games while topping the league points table. The team then entered the final by winning the first qualifier and later became the IPL 2022 champions.
