IPL 2022: Getting The Basics Right Is Important For Me: Anrich Nortje

Delhi Capitals pacer, Anrich Nortje, who returned to the side after a long injury break against Sunrisers Hyderabad felt that he was right back in rhythm which was not the case earlier in the season.
Nortje who was nursing a hip injury coming into IPL 2022, did not feature in earlier games for DC, but he played against Lucknow Super Giants later in the season only to find himself out of rhythm. He had little control over his bowling as he was taken out of the attack just after 2.2 overs as he had bowled 2 waist height no-balls. His figures read 35-0 in 2.2 overs. Nortje got dropped again from the team and was only included to play against SRH after he was fully match- fit.

I’m quite a basic guy so getting those basics right is quite important for me. So since the last game, I was just working a lot on rhythm and now I need to focus on a bit of skill but it was nice to be back out there and feel like my old self in a way,” he further added.

He was all praise for the Indian left arm seamer Khaleel Ahmed who has done quite well for DC this season as he said, “He (Khaleel Ahmed) has been bowling really well this whole tournament. Everyone has been bowling well. In certain stages, you’re going to get hit. When you have a short side, it’s hard to protect the short side the whole time and sometimes it gets a bit predictable. But I think the boys bowled really well, especially at the end as well, under pressure and everyone stayed cool and calm so that was nice to see.”
DC would hope that their bowlers continue to deliver for them as the race to the
