IPL 2022: 'He Was Sold For Around 15-16 Crore One season,' Says Virender Sehwag, Advising MI To Take A Chance In The Upcoming Match

Mumbai Indians, the five-time winners, have had a poor start to the Indian Premier League 2022, and Virender Sehwag has suggested an unusual move the team should make before it’s too late.
MI is suffering in ninth place on the points table after losing all three of its games this season, and it is clear that the team is lacking the star quality of previous years. MI is without a genuine top bowler to pair with Jasprit Bumrah owing to the absence of Trent Boult, Hardik Pandya, and Nathan Coulter-Nile.
Former India opener Virender Sehwag believes that while MI’s pace attack is largely untested, there is someone they may try for their upcoming IPL 2022 encounter.
“Until last year, MI had a Nathan Coulter-Nile-type player who would come in if a pacer wasn’t playing well or was hurt. If you look at MI’s bench strength right now, it appears that the management will be hesitant to include individuals who aren’t in the starting XI.”
“Mayank Markande, Jaydev Unadkat, Riley Meredith, and Arshad Khan are among those who have opted out. Sanjay Yadav, Arjun Tendulkar, Hrithik Shokeen, and others aren’t the type of players who can take the place of Basil Thampi or Daniel Sams “On Cricbuzz, Virender Sehwag stated.
Virender Sehwag believes MI should go with Jaydev Unadkat:
Only Unadkat, I believe, has the experience and has performed effectively for Pune in one season (Rising Pune Supergiants). Even though he was sold for around 15-16 crores, his next season wasn’t particularly successful.
“As a result, he appears to be the only one capable of partnering with Bumrah. There aren’t many others besides him.”
“In the Powerplay, MI doesn’t have a bowler capable of bowling three overs, and they can’t afford to make Bumrah bowl three overs. MI’s bowling stocks appear to be shaky, therefore their hitters will have to work extra hard this time.”
The left-arm fast, who has expressed a desire to return to the Indian side, appeared in 13 IPL matches and took eight wickets in the last two editions.
It will be fascinating to see whether MI listens to Sehwag’s advice after paying 1.3 crores for him during the auction.
