Dwaine Pretorius of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has praised his skipper MS Dhoni and highlighted what he has learned from him. Pretorius praised Dhoni as ‘The Master’ on Instagram. Pretorius also posted on his website about what he learned from Dhoni.

At a base price of Rs 50 lakhs, Pretorius had joined the Yellow Army. CSK has been eliminated from the league stage. Dhoni began the season as a player before being promoted to captain.

Dhoni has had a lasting impression on several players, including Pretorius. At a base price of Rs 50 lakhs, the South African all-rounder had signed CSK. Against Lucknow Super Giants, he earned his IPL debut.

On May 4, he faced Royal Challengers Bangalore for the first time. Since then, he has always been on the sideline and is reluctant to play in CSK’s last league stage match on Friday against Rajasthan Royals (May 20).

In this campaign, Pretorius has 44 runs and 6 wickets. It needs to be seen whether the team management will release him following CSK’s poor season performance.

‘I was curious to see how MS Dhoni approaches the game’: Dwaine Pretorius

In his blog about MS Dhoni, Dwaine Pretorius writes:

When you look at MS Dhoni and see how many games he has won for India, as well as how many games he has won for CSK, don’t you think winning must mean a lot to him?

The answer is that winning is really important to him. Dhoni is, without a doubt, one of our generation’s best under pressure performances. However, you must ask yourself, “How does he handle all of that pressure?”

That was the precise question I posed to myself.

After making the CSK team, I was curious to see how MS approaches the game and how he continuously performs under duress.

I never expected the solution to be so straightforward. He concentrates on his breathing first and foremost, and second, winning isn’t everything. That couldn’t possibly be the case, I reasoned.

So you dig a little deeper and ask him a few more questions, and you begin to realize that the greatest way to deal with pressure is to manage your heart rate and that breathing before any activity is crucial.

So, if you’re bowling a yorker in the death overs, make sure your breathing is under control and you’re not too excited, scared, or anxious.

If you’re batting and you’re down to your final over and need 22 runs to win, take a deep breath, relax, and make sure you’re psychologically prepared to implement your skills.

One of the main reasons he claims he doesn’t mind losing is that he doesn’t believe he needs to place any further external constraints on himself. As a result, he focuses on the process rather than the outcome of the match.
