IPL 2022: It's Been Disappointing To Not Get The Outcomes We Desired Right Away - Tim David On His First Year At MI

Tim David, the all-rounder for the Mumbai Indians (MI), spoke out about his tournament experience with a new squad in the 15th version of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022).

David, who played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) late last season, was signed for a hefty 8.25 crore at the auction. While Mumbai had a poor season, finishing last in the standings, David had a good one.

Despite a slow start, the Singapore-based all-rounder improved in the second half of the tournament. Tim David commented on his first brief tenure with MI on the franchise’s official platform:

“There have been occasions when it has been disappointing to not get the outcomes we desired right away. However, it has been a satisfying season of being challenged. I’ve been tested.”

Coming into a new set-up proved difficult for the 26-year-old all-rounder. However, the appended that as the tourney advanced, things became more relaxed.

Tim David continued: “When you first enter a new environment and don’t know a lot of people, it can feel a little rigid or structured. But as the tourney progressed, you became more at ease with everyone who was here with us as part of the MI team.

“You form various relationships with people. I spent a lot of time in the gym with Chappie (Paul Chapman). So that’s a plus.”

The all-rounder also stated that he has worked extensively on his batting during his time away from the game in India, which has helped him become a better cricketer.

“I played twice at the start, and it was a great experience because it was my first time to play for MI. The first games in India. Then I undoubtedly sat out for the squad combination.”

“It’s difficult to deal with as a player even though you believe you have something to offer the team, but it’s just a matter of time. Try to help your team members as much as you can” David Added.

David finished the season with 186 runs in eight matches at an average of 37.20 and a strike rate of over 215.
