IPL 2022: Karun Nair Eager To Reconnect With Sanju Samson, Says ' I Have Always Loved Playing With Him'

Karun Nair has said that he is eagerly waiting to reconnect with Sanju Samson in IPL 2022. Karun Nair also opened up why he has not managed to get a place in T20Is in the national team over the years. Nair is part of Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022 and will play under skipper Sanju Samson.

Karun Nair was picked by Rajasthan Royals during IPL 2022 auction. The franchise bought him at a price of Rs. 1.4 crores. Nair has the distinct achievement of hitting a triple century in Tests and is the only second Indian player after Virender Sehwag to do so.

I’ve Always Loved Playing With Sanju Samson: Karun Nair

In a press release issued by the Rajasthan Royals team ahead of IPL 2022, Karun Nair said that he loves playing with Sanju Samson and can’t wait to reconnect with him on the ground.

“I’ve always loved playing with Sanju so I can’t wait to reconnect with him on the ground. We’ve had some really good partnerships over the years and I’m really happy to know Sanju, along with Kumar (Sangakkara) and Zubin (Bharucha), have shown the faith in me to bring me back into the team,” Karun Nair said.

He also opened up on why he did not get a chance in the national side in the shortest format in spite of so many seasons in IPL.

“In my opinion, the reason behind that is that I’ve never been the kind of a main player in a team in T20 cricket. If you see, whenever I score runs, there’s someone else who scores better in the same match (laughs),”“…But I’m not really bothered about that at all — all I care about and why I play matches is to help the team win”, the right-handed batsman further said.

Karun Nair has played 73 matches in IPL so far. In 66 innings, he has scored 1480 runs at an average of 24.26. He has also hit 10 fifties in the tournament. He will play for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022. He played for the team back in the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

IPL 2022 starts on March 26 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. In the opening game, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders will lock horns with each other. Rajasthan Royals will play their first game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 29.
