IPL 2022: Match 34 Between Delhi Capitals & Rajasthan Royals Shifted From Pune To Wankhede Stadium In Mumbai

IPL 2022: Delhi Capitals have been hit by Covid 19 in their camp. As Mitchell Marsh, Tim Seifert and several other members of the squad have been found to be Covid positive. Due to this, the Board for Control of Cricket in India shifted the venue of DC’s match against Punjab Kings from MCA stadium Pune to Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.
Now the BCCI has decided to shift the venue of the next game for DC as well.

BCCI on Wednesday announced a change of venue for the Match between Delhi Capital and Rajasthan Royals. The match has been shifted from MCA Stadium, Pune to Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai which is scheduled for April 22nd, 2022.

Delhi Capitals Did Not Move Out Of Mumbai Due To Covid 19

Earlier, after news broke out that their physio Patrik Farhart had contracted the virus, DC did not move to Pune for their upcoming games. In subsequent tests conducted in the DC camp, several other players and support staff was found to be Covid positive.

Mitchell Marsh was found positive and was admitted to a hospital. Earlier today wicket-keeper batter Tim Seifert was also found to be Covid positive.

“The decision on the change of venue was made as a precautionary measure after Delhi Capitals registered the 6th COVID case with New Zealand wicketkeeper Mr Tim Seifert returning positive in today’s RT-PCR testing. The entire Delhi Capitals contingent underwent 2 rounds of COVID testing today”, said a media advisory released by the Indian Premier League.

It must be mentioned here that last year during the first phase of the IPL in India, several cases of Covid were reported in various teams due to which the tournament had to be postponed. This time though the board is taking all the precautions so that the tournament can go on.
