Former Australian Left-arm spinner, Brad Hogg in his recent YouTube said that when MS Dhoni plays in the last over, it’s his reputation to finish games that overrides the bowler.

In Chennai Super King’s last game against Mumbai Indians, Dhoni turned back the clocks yet again as he scored 16 runs off the final 4 balls to carry his team over the line.

No Target Is Too Big For MS Dhoni In The Last Over Brad Hogg

Brad Hogg also said that there’s a reason why MS Dhoni takes the chase till the last over.

MS Dhoni wants that particular moment. He wants it because he believes in himself. No target is too big. Whether it’s 15 runs an over or 30 runs an over, he still believes that he can get his team over the line.

“Also the reputation, he already knows that the bowler is thinking that he is good at this role at the back end and he can win from any situation,” Hogg said about Dhoni’s finishing abilities.

“His scoring rate is not that high in the 18th and the 19th over,” he added. “He is just working the ball around, making sure that he’s got control of the run rate.

“It’s between him and the bowler in the final over and he tries to attack the bowler in the first couple of balls. Once he does that, his reputation overrides the bowler’s mind,” Hogg further added.

MS Dhoni might not be leading CSK this season but with the bat, he has been in great form. In the first game of the season, he hit a brilliant fifty and in the last game too he showed his class as a finisher.

Dhoni resigned from CSK’s captaincy just prior to the start of the new season, but it still seems that he is the one carrying his team through.
