Regal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) commander Faf du Plessis accepts his job on the field has turned into that of a mentor also to spur his players. The Proteas pro was designated commander of the franchise toward the beginning of the season.
Driving an IPL side for the first time, Du Plessis pushed RCB to a fair beginning. However, a three-game run of failures has wrecked their force as they face a fight to finish fourth.
As A Leader You Have To Wear Multiple Hats: Faf Du Plessis
Naming the assignment of rousing players as an integral part of the gig, Faf du Plessis said on RCB Match Day:
“My role sometimes also becomes as a coach on the field because you need to motivate the players. I think that is a big part of any leader’s job. So, you have to wear multiple hats, whether it is picking up guys when they are low or to make sure when you are on a high, you don’t get too proud of yourselves. I think it is part and parcel of what we do and it is something that is important right now.”
RCB are hoping to meet all requirements for the end of the season games for the third consecutive season and end their trophy drought.
Routs against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) have kept RCB rooted to the fourth spot in the points table. The initial two losses, specifically, negatively affected their net-run rate also.
Things Will Deal With Themselves: Faf du Plessis
Accepting that things will deal with themselves assuming they string together two or three wins, the RCB skipper said:
“We know that this tournament, you know have these ebbs and flows, it is 100% normal but we want to hit the peak towards the end. We just want to start the upward curve, the peak will take care of itself.”
RCB will next confront Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a crucial game later on Wednesday at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
